Director Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, will hit home video in just under two weeks, and ComicBook.com has a copy on hand and have been slowly navigating our way through the hours of special features attached to the film’s Blu-ray.One of the most interesting things we’ve heard so far is Anne Hathaway’s explanation of her influences for Catwoman, which she says came mostly from the comics and also from studying the old films of an actress who first inspired Catwoman’s co-creator Bob Kane.”I didn’t want to study anyone else’s Catwoman performance,” Hathaway says in an interview on the “A Girl’s Gotta Eat” mini-documentary on the disc. “Because my Catwoman has to be Chris Nolan’s Catwoman but I did read a lot of the comics and I read a lot about what Bob Kane was thinking. With the original Catwoman I heard he partially based her on Hedy Lamarr. So I went back and actually watched a lot of Hedy Lamarr films to see if I could pick up on any traits. I noticed that no matter how mad the scene was, no matter how emotional it was, she always had a really steady breath. And so I tried to bring that to the character.”She added, “When working with Chris if you make any kind of easy or obvious choice with a character, he will steer you away from that because everything is real, everything is thoughtful.”The Dark Knight Rises will be available on Blu-ray and DVD December 4.
