In Marvel Comics, there have been three different men to wear the Ant-Man uniform: Hank Pym, Scott Lang, and Eric O’Grady. There has been much debate over which version of Ant-Man that director Edgar Wright will feature in his Ant-Man movie. This morning Wright might have provided a big hint in regards to the direction he is heading.Wright posted the Ant-Man image above to his blog with a single word comment: “Homework.” The image above is important because it comes from an episode of the animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes called “To Steal An Ant-Man.” The storyline in that episode revolved around Scott Lang stealing the Ant-Man suit from Hank Pym.It’s long been rumored that the “To Steal An Ant-Man” storyline could be the starting point of the Ant-Man movie. While Edgar Wright has previously confirmed that Hank Pym will be a part of the Ant-Man movie, he has never specified that Hank Pym will be the central Ant-Man in the story. Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige referred to Ant-Man as a heist movie, which would correlate well with the “To Steal An Ant-Man” storyline. Also, Paul Rudd, who has been cast as Ant-Man, likely seems to be a better fit for the Scott Lang character than the Hank Pym character, based on the type of previous roles he has played.Ant-Man is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on July 31, 2015.
