Minions, last week’s winner and the latest installment in the Despicable Me franchise, generated just over $50 million to come in second. The weekend’s other big, new release was Trainwreck, which made $30 million.
The Minions drop was steeper than expected, and Trainwreck did better than expected, but Ant-Man was almost exactly on track with analyst predictions.
Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, premiered on Friday, July 17, 2015. Check out ComicBook.com’s Movie Schedule here.
