In a series of new social media posts, Archie Comics has shared images of Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica in wardrobe that more closely resembles their “classic” look from the comics.\

“I do believe Jughead is just absolutely obsessed with what was once Riverdale, and Betty represents this morality and purity that he associates to this more Peter Pan-like childhood version of Riverdale. He finds great comfort in that, and becomes easily accessible and resonates with him,” series star Cole Sprouse said during a recent set visit, adding that the hat Jughead wears is part and parcel of that.

“This is a childhood symbol for him. He’s worn it since he was a child and you’ll see pictures of Baby Jughead, basically, with the same hat on,” Sprouse said.”Jughead more than most characters in this show so far has been most impacted as he grew with tragedy and his distance from childhood, so it doesn’t surprise me that he in some way or another has, like his writings, become obsessed with this critical, post-9/11 vision of Riverdale that takes place and this rite of passage that has distanced him from this beautiful, wholesome childhood into something that’s more realized and dark and grim.”

When a major piece of evidence is mysteriously destroyed, new rumors begin to swirl as to who was really behind Jason’s murder. Tensions build when Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) father returns to the fray and it’s revealed that he and Fred (Luke Perry) have some unresolved issues between them. Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) takes matters into her own hands after her fight with Hermione (Marisol Nichols). Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) approaches Betty (Lili Reinhart) with an unexpected proposal that leaves Betty torn. KJ Apa and Madchen Amick also star.

Allison Anders directed the episode written by Aaron Allen.
