As New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) biggest event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 10, had finished airing, news broke across the wrestling world that some of the company’s biggest stars had signed with WWE.

“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura, and the tag team from the Bullet Club, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson are rumored to sign with the sports-entertainment titan, if they haven’t already. This would be a big coup against NJPW for sure.
WWE actually had a brief story on this speculation Tuesday evening, laying the ground work for the possible debut of these stars with some information for fans unfamiliar with their work. Of course WWE, being who they are, failed to acknowledge AJ’s many titles held in the rival TNA promotion, but recognizes him as a former IWGP World Champion.
Nakamura, the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion, is hailed as one of the best performers today with an unmatched level of charisma and superb athletic ability. WWE’s Daniel Bryan commented not too long ago that he would love to wrestle Nakamura in any promotion’s ring, and actually pitched a match between the two.
The Internet Wrestling Community was set ablaze with the news, but until actual confirmation, this has to be filed under strictly a rumor at the moment. Though with Styles getting kicked out of Bullet Club this morning, with Kenny Omega taking the reins of leadership, some things are little too coincidental. Omega also scored a pinfall over Nakamura, which looks to be setting up a one-on-one match for Nakamura’s title.
How cool would it be for AJ Styles to debut at the Royal Rumble, though? Being a Georgia native myself, I’d mark out pretty hard.
