Joss Whedon has passed the Avengers directing duties off on Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier). They’ll be helming the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. A monumental task that most fans have looked at as a pure showdown between The Avengers and Thanos. That won’t be the case.

“A lot of people were surprised that Thanos wasn’t the villains in Avengers 2, but he was never meant to be,” Joss Whedon told Vulture. “He was always meant to be the puppet-master until he was done doing that, and then he’ll be the big villain they face off with. Not solely – I’m sure there’ll be plenty more [villains] in that monstrous epic, because one thing Marvel doesn’t do is string a story out into two movies that shouldn’t be two movies. They’ll give you two big movies. I feel like we got two movies into this one!”

Which villains do you think will make an appearance in the two Infinity War films? You have to figure Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be one. Maybe, Hugo Weaving returns as the Red Skull. I have no clue where Ultron is left after the second Avengers film, but I would assume Marvel could use him again in the next two films. Should be interesting to see which villains are selected. Fingers crossed on Trevor Slattery.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 will arrive in theaters May 4th 2018 and then Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 will arrive May 3rd 2019.
