Based on an original script by Bill Dubuque, The Accountant would star Affleck as a mild-mannered accountant who moonlights as a lethal assassin. The project has been in and out of development for years, with Will Smith at one point planned to star for Sony.
The news comes while Affleck is all over the news, promoting David Fincher’s Gone Girl in which he also stars. That film, Variety thinks, will take the top spot at the U.S. domestic box office this weekend, with both Left Behind and Annabelle taking in respectable money behind it.
The thinking is that Gone Girl will generate around $25 million, while Annabelle will take in $23 million and Left Behind around $10 million.
