Blade Runner 2049 is one of our most anticipated movies of 2017 with good reason. Having Sicario and Arrival director Denis Villeneuve taking on the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic is promising – as evidenced by the captivating first trailer for the film.

With Blade Runner star Harrison Ford returning to star alongside Ryan Gosling in this new film, fans of the original are looking for all kinds of connecitive threads between the two films (just don’t expect the Deckard replicant question to be answered). Today, we learn that another character from the original film may be appearing in Blade Runner 2049 – though details on who it is, are vague.

Terminator Fans has the rumor that a replicant character from Blade Runner will be appearing in Blade Runner 2049 – but which replicant character is not known. There are some competing theories that say anyone from Rutger Hauer’s Roy Batty to Sean Yong’s Rachael ( or even a de-aged Harrison Ford playing a second, replicant version of Deckard) could be the rumored cameo in Blade Runner 2049.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve, co-produced by Blade Runner director Ridley Scott, and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. It stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, David Dastmalchian, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and Jared Leto.

Blade Runner 2049 opens Oct. 7, 2017.
