The announcement was made by CBS CEO Les Moonves to those in attendance at the Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference.
The DC Comics drama, starring Melissa Benoist, debuted late October last year to close to 13 million total viewers and was seen a success by critics. Since the first episode the show has introduced a wide number of characters and villains from DC Universe which has made it a favorite amongst fans as well.
Ratings have been slipping since it’s inception but the show is still by in large far ahead of its superhero TV competition. In fact, the most recent episode had 6.69 million people watching.
With a crossover with The Flash coming down the pipe, it’s clear the showrunners and the studio are enjoying the ride and taking fans along with them.
The next episode of Supergirl, “Falling,” will air Monday, March 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
