In a new featurette released by ABC and Marvel, executive producer Jeph Loeb chats with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Director Phil Coulson, Clark Gregg, about his unfortunate “demise” in The Avengers.

“So, when I got a call to show up and play, I was very excited,” Gregg recalls. “And to have them, kind of a new team, keep taking this character in different directions made it a very sad day when I had to have my unfortunate encounter with that Asgardian, mischief-making person.”
