Long ago in a lifetime far, far away, Kenner released a beloved line of Star Wars action figures for the original trilogy and beyond. While the toys were iconic in their own right, it was photographer Kim David McNeill Simmons’ photos for the box art that elevated the toy line to an art form. It’s been difficult to trace Simmons’ art, which you’d probably only find on the toys’ packaging at trade shows, until now.

Simmons has released his portfolio of Star Wars work for Kenner between 1977 to 1985, showing all of the vintage action figures and vehicles in their pristine glory. Simmons’ photos range from action figures, to playsets, to plus-sized dolls, and even micro-sized figures. He even included the small body of work he did for The Phantom Menaceย in 1999.ย ย It’s awesome to see the toys out of their box and in full action, as they were intended to be.ย
