Constantine Casts Angelica Celaya as Zed

The character, whose addition to the cast was announced this week when writers decided to jettison Lucy Griffith’s Liv after the pilot, is a fixture in the Hellblazer comics from Vertigo upon which the series is based. Liv was an original creation for the TV show.

First appearing in Hellblazer #4, Zed was instrumental to a number of Constantine stories, including rescuing his niece Gemma from kidnappers and battling Nergal, a demon most assume is the one pictured at right from the series’ pilot.

She’s also an artist who had sketched John Constantine before ever having met him, bringing him home moments after their first encounter to show him the evidence.

Celaya has had minor roles in Burn Notice and Dallas.
