Twentieth Century Fox has released a new banner for Deadpool with a slightly different tone than we’ve come to expect from the film.

Deadpool is releasing on Valentine’s Day, which is usually a target date for romantic comedies rather than raunchy, R-rated, superhero action-comedies. The Deadpool marketing team has decided to play with that convention by releasing a rom-com style banner for the film.

The banner shows Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlyle) posed like they’re in a Nicholas Sparks movie. The mock logline, “Love Never Dies,” is both perfectly cheesy, and a great play on Deadpool’s regenerative powers.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapiฤiฤ, and Leslie Uggams.
