According to the video captured by the body camera of the officer whose car was struck – who, luckily, was in conversation with some fellow officer after responding to a call and not in his vehicle – the crash took place on July 18, 2016, at about 3:30 a.m. No one involved in the crash was injured.

“The driver of the RAV4 told investigators that he was looking down, playing the Pokémon Go game, when he struck the patrol car,” the video’s narrator states.

“That’s what I get for playing this dumb ass game,” the driver told the officers.

On Twitter, the Baltimore Police Department posted the video with a warning that “Pokemon Go is not all fun and games.” The video concludes with a “don’t drive distracted” warning and a “#PlaySafe” hashtag.

Pokémon Go has become an international phenomenon since it began release in early July, and even Homer Simpson has become addicted. However, the game isn’t without its hazards if you’re not attentive. Several states have issued travel warning about distracted driving, but there’s danger even on foot. Two players fell from a 90-foot cliff while playing Pokémon Go. The New York Police Department had to issue Pokémon Go guidelines after a player stampede occurred. Other Pokémon Go players have been accosted by armed robbers while playing. As the warning on the game’s load screen suggests, stay aware of your surrounding while playing Pokémon Go.
