“The film is a major coup for McBride, as not only will it allow him to show off more of his range as a performer, but he’ll also have a chance to work with Scott,” The Wrap reports. “Like the director, McBride is a true cinephile, and the duo are said to have hit it off while discussing old movies.”
McBride is best known for starring in HBO’s Eastbound & Down as well as supporting roles in feature films, such as Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, and This Is The End.
The cast currently includes Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse), reprising his role as Davide the android, and Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).
Synopsis: Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien Covenant to be released Oct. 6, 2017.
