Several days ago, Gray met with franchise star Vin Diesel regarding the open directing position. The meeting went well as the two posed for a photo with smiles beaming across their faces. Hours later THR reported that Gray entered into exclusive negotiations to become the Fast & Furious 8 director.
Gray previously directed Diesel in the 2003 film A Man Apart. That same year, Gray also directed The Italian Job remake starring Mark Wahlberg, a film that had some thrilling car chase scenes. The experience Gray acquired from those elaborate sequences will serve him well when he tackles the next Fast & Furious movie.
