Earlier this month, rumors surfaced that Michael B. Jordan was under serious consideration for the role of the Human Torch in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot. The rumor created quite a bit of discussion on the Internet, mainly revolving around Michael B. Jordan being an African American potentially playing a character who is white in comic books. It also generated a lot of speculation over what if anything it would mean for the casting of Susan Storm, who is Johnny Storm’s sister.

Well, USA Today asked Michael B. Jordan about the rumors, and Michael B. Jordan definitely showed he was interested in the role. Michael B. Jordan said, “Things change and time goes on, it’s 2013 right now. The characteristics of the Human Torch are his name is Johnny Storm, he’s charismatic, and he’s a playboy. That’s it. You know what I’m saying? That’s all there is.” In regards to if the rumors were true, Michael B. Jordan winked and said, “Nothing is real. Everyone knows we’re good friends. It’s something that if it happened I would be ecstatic. I’d love to be a part of it.” Jordan then told USA Today that the wink was off the record.

As far as critics of the possibility of him being cast in the role, Michael B. Jordan said, “I think all these people have a continuity problem.” While some people might have continuity problems, Jordan also pointed out that he has gotten a lot of support since the rumors broke. Michael B. Jordan said, “I get a lot of support and a lot of love from comic-book geeks. I love it.”
