The title will split Groot up from Rocket, and then explore the origin of their partnership.

Here’s how Marvel describes the project:
When Rocket and Groot are on an intergalactic roadtrip and calamity strikes, the two get separated — and for the first time in years, Groot’s on his own! Written by comedic ace Jeff Loveness (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”) and drawn by Marvel Comics newcomer Brian Kesinger (Disney Animation), get a front row seat for EXPLOSIONS, SPACE SHARKS, ALIENS, AND INTERGALACTIC HITCHIKING (YEAH, BABY! YOU READ THAT RIGHT)! Whatever may be coming Groot’s way, one thing’s for sure — it’s going to be a GROOT adventure!
“It’s a challenge, and also part of the fun,” said Loveless of writing a character who can only speak one line of dialogue. “Being a comedy writer on TV, you make your living on words and turns of phrase and jokes. So with Groot you’ve gotta dig deep and find a lot of physical comedy.”
He said that he had studied up on silent comedy from Charlie Chaplin and Hiyao Miyazaki to prep for the gig.
He also told Mashable that he has the “entire arc” planned out, suggesting that he may be on for only an arc or that the book might be a miniseries…but there’s no specific reference to either. The relationship this book has to Secret Wars is also unclear.
This makes Drax the Destroyer the only remaining member of the core cinematic Guardians who doesn’t have a solo title — although The Legendary Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon and Gamora are presumably on hiatus with the rest of the Marvel Universe during Secret Wars.
