A newly-revealed Guardians of the Galaxy #1 “phantom variant,” available to select retailers through the Diamond Comics Distributors system, features Thanos, the villain behind the upcoming Infinity, in an homage to Uncanny X-Men #141’s famous cover.The iconic cover, which is the representative image for the classic Claremont/Byrne story Days of Future Past, is getting a bit of traffic at Marvel these days, having just been referenced in an issue of Uncanny Avengers this week.In addition to starring in Infinity, Thanos has his own origin miniseries coming this spring/summer, and will reportedly star as the (or at least a) villain in both Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2 when they hit theaters.
