Guillermo del Toro almost has more of a career continously teasing films he’s going to make rather than actually making them. Case in point is Hellboy 3 (or Hellboy III), the long-awaited threequel in del Toro and star Ron Perlman‘s adaptation of the Hellboy comic book.
The first two Hellboy movies have been cult hits more than anything, grossing (in average) unimpressive returns in the $100 million range, yet finding longer life and support on home video and cable replays. Since the reception of Hellboy III has been something of an unknown quantity, there’s been little progress in moving it forward – however, Guillermo del Toro recently tested the waters to guage what interest there still is in Hellboy III, and the response has been immediate, and loud.

Del Toro first updated fans with the fact that less than 24 hours after posting his “informal” Hellboy 3 poll, he had received more than 100K responses – with a 68% to 32% vote (at the time of writing this) of “Hell Yes” to “Yes” in favor of making Hellboy 3.
Humorously skewed polls aside, del Toro’s next update should make fans giddy!
I spoke with Ron Perlman. He’s in for the sit down. Will approach Mignola next. Will keep you posted. Very moved by your love of pt I & II
