It’s no secret that Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo to die in the original Star Wars trilogy. Why in the world would he want one of the most iconic characters ever created to be killed off?

Ford recently sat down with unabashed geek Conan O’Brien and explained.
“It was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” Ford starts. “I thought the best utility of the character would be for him to sacrifice himself to a high ideal and give a little bottom, a little gravitas to the enterprise, not that there wasn’t some already but I just wanted in on some part of it. That was at the third occasion of filming the original three.”
Conan then clarified with Ford whether or not he wanted an honorable death and Ford told him, “Preferably, rather than an accident!”
Would you have been devastated if Han Solo were to be killed in the original Star Wars trilogy? Personally, I’m happy we got another adventure with him 30 years later.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now playing in theaters.
