It seems like Karl Urban is all over the place nowadays, and no one is complaining about that. The Dredd star has popped up in many of the major franchises as of late, with his most notable role being Bones in the Star Trek films. Urban has recently wrapped up filming for the latest Marvel movie, Thor: Ragnarok.
It looks like the Urban train is still moving, as the star is reportedly on the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising. Not only is he there, but it looks like Urban is getting screen time in the sequel.

Cinematographer Dan Mindel posted a behind-the-scenes photo of the his camera on his Instagram account, and the stickers on the side show that Urban is putting in work.
The camera has labels on the side for a few of the actors in the film, presumably those working in the scenes being filmed. Charlie Day and Rinko Kikuchi’s names can be seen, and that doesn’t surprise anyone as both actors were in the first film.
Between their names, however, lies Karl Urban.
Nothing regarding Urban’s involvement in the movie had been released yet, so this news comes as a surprise to the community. When you look at Dan Mindel’s track record though, Urban’s involvement makes sense.
The cinematographer directed photgraphy on the first two Star Trek films in JJ Abrams’ reboot series. Karl Urban was involved in both of those project. Mindel also acted as DP for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, where he worked with new Pacific Rim star John Boyega.
UPDATE: Karl Urban took to Twitter to reveal that he is actually not involved in Pacific Rim 2. Much to the disappointment of fans, that’s much more of a confirmation than the DP’s camera.
