The new photos give us a glimpse at fan favorite Decepticon Starscream, as well as transformers like Maxima and Windblade. The animation style looks pretty slick so far, and fans will get to see it in action starting on June 28th. That’s when a new four episode prelude series will debut on Youtube, titled Prelude To The Combiner Wars.
Chief Content Officer of Hasbro Stephen Davis shared some thoughts about the partnership between Hasbro and Machinima. “Machinima is known as a leader of the digital content space and has tremendous creative talent within their network. We are excited to partner with them to tell a new kind of Transformers story for the digital generation. The writers, artists and voice actors working on this series are all true fans of the franchise, and their love for these characters really shines through in Combiner Wars.”
Combiner Wars is set 40 years after the great earth war, and takes place predominantly on Cybertron, though you can never completely rule out a small trip to earth. An uneasy peace between Autobots and Decepticons has formed, and the rise of a new type of Transformer threatens that delicate peace.
“Transformers is one of the most beloved franchises in the world and Machinima is thrilled to work with Hasbro to bring Transformers: Combiner Wars to today’s social video platforms,” said Chad Gutstein, CEO of Machinima. “Our audience loves these characters and Combiner Wars has been a true ‘for the fans, by the fans’ effort. We can’t wait to give fans a preview of the series during Cannes.”
Transformers: Combiner Wars will launch on go90 on August 2nd.
