Diamond Comic Distributors PREVIEWS Catalog will now feature a new magazine called Image+. The program will start in May, and will actually go beyond Marvel Previews by actually featuring original content.

Each of the first 12 issues of Image+ will contain an original four-page story for The Walking Dead. The story will be written by Walking Dead scribe Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, and will focus on the backstory of none other than Negan himself.

Image+ will be 64 pages, and in addition to the original Walking Dead story will also feature interviews, exclusive preview pages, and editorials. David Brothers, Branding Manager at Image Comics, had some additional insights.

“Comics are exciting, and it does them and their creators a disservice to give them rote, by-the-numbers coverage. I cut my teeth on video game magazines before writing about comics professionally, and I’m excited to push that experience in a new direction alongside Sasha Head, our Sales & Marketing Production Designer. From my perspective, comics have always been cool, and this is a chance to show everyone exactly why I feel that way.”

I’m all for more original content, and even if you don’t get PREVIEWS, if you’re a fan of what Image is putting out right now, this might be a great way to spend $1.99 a month.
