Following a failed attempt at a big-screen reboot with Star Trek actor Chris Pine at the forefront, Tom Clancy’s best-selling Jack Ryan character is reportedly headed to television.

Deadline reports that Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and Paramount TV will produce the series with Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland.
The series will reportedly not be a direct adaptation of the novels, but use them as a blueprint for a more contemporary story about a young CIA analyst.
Of course, in the novels, Ryan eventually rose to be President of the United States. So there’s that to look forward to.
The new star would follow not only Chris Pine but Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, who have all played Ryan in a franchise that has grossed $1 billion worldwide.
