For cult classics like The Big Lebowski, sequels don’t happen that often, especially ones made by the Coen Brothers.

That hasn’t deterred fan interest in a possible sequel, though, and that also goes for some of the actors involved. Specifically actor John Turturro, who played Jesus Quintana in the original film. Turturro has been working on getting a spiritual sequel to The Big Lebowski made for quite some time, but according to him, “a very complicated legal situation” has been holding things up (via Business Insider).

It isn’t the Coen Brothers giving him a hard time either. While they wouldn’t direct the film, Turturro has said it would “be something they would support with me.”

When actor Jeff Bridges was asked about the spiritual sequel, he wasn’t at all surprised, and he still loves the idea. “I’ve heard that for years, John saying that,” Bridges told Business Insider. “I think it’s a great idea.” Bridges is even up for a cameo if Turturro wants him.

“Yeah, it might be fun playing a little cameo as The Dude.”

While Bridges is game for Turturro’s version, he also believes there’s enough there to do a full on sequel to the film, especially when it comes to The Dude and how things left off.

“I’m hoping they make a little Lebowski [sequel] because it’s all set up,” he said. “I impregnated Maude [Julianne Moore]. As The Stranger [Sam Elliott] says, ‘There’s a little Lebowski on the way,’ you know?”

Whichever project comes to fruition, it looks like The Dude is up for it.
