What makes Fortunately, The Milk so enticing is that filmmaker Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Mass) are part of the package. Depp will star and produce (with Animal Logic Entertainment), while Wright will direct. The film will be a blend of live-action and animation.

Flight of the Conchords‘ Bret McKenzie has been brought on board to pen the script.

Fortunately, The Milk is a New York Times bestselling story of time travel and breakfast cereal. A father goes to the grocery store to get some milk for his child’s cereal. When he returns, he shares a remarkable tale of how he encountered aliens, pirates and dinosaurs on his way home from the store.
