Kong: Skull Island hit theaters this weekend, and the mega-monster flick is set up to break some box office records. Fans are coming out of the woodwork to watch the giant ape run rampant. So far, it seems like everyone is really enjoying themselves.
While the movie stands well on its own, it definitely wasn’t without its references, nods, and Easter Eggs. Many fans recognized the dozens of Godzilla tie-ins hidden throughout, but there was one other little reference to one of the all-time greatest monster movies – Jurassic Park.

Just a heads up, there are some slight spoilers ahead. The Easter Egg being discussed here is in the beginning of the film though, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
As Samuel L. Jackson‘s character, Preston Packard, let the helicopters towards Skull Island, he had to navigate them through a massive storm. The entire team braced for the impact of high winds, thunder, and lightning.
Just as the choppers were about to make contact with the wicked weather, he gave one final warning to the entire group. In that moment, Jackson delivered one of his most famous lines of his career:
“Hold on to your butts.”
If you recall, this was a big quote in the original Jurassic Park movie. As Jackson’s character was about to shut off the power to the park, putting everyone at risk, he told the others to hold onto their butts.

The line was a nice nod to an incredible monster flick, but that’s not all. It was also foreshadowing danger ahead, as the line ushered in chaos in both films.
