Kevin Smith Clerks 3 Book

On this past Saturday, Comicbook.com was first to report on Kevin Smith revealing on What’s Trending that he was considering doing Clerks 3 as a book. After the story spread online, Kevin Smith started getting backlash from fans, and he defended his decision to do Clerks 3 as a book on Twitter. While some have accused Kevin Smith as being lazy, Kevin Smith has refuted that insinuation by pointing out the many current projects he has which includes the AMC series Comic Book Men, the upcoming Fox show Short-Com, as well as a number of podcasts. In an radio interview on KROQ earlier today, Kevin Smith once again addressed some of the reasoning of doing Clerks 3 as book. Smith pointed out that one of the challenges in making Clerks 3 as a movie is that Jeff Anderson, who plays Randal, isn’t onboard.Kevin Smith said that Jeff Anderson was initially reluctant to do Clerks 2, but he eventually came around and loved doing it. Smith pointed out Jeff’s concern as being that he doesn’t want to ruin the legacy of Clerks and that Jeff just doesn’t feel the need to make a Clerks 3 right now. However, Smith wasn’t upset, and just said that Jeff is keeping him honest and insuring they don’t make a movie that sucks. As far as whether the Clerks 3 book will be released all at once or in chapters, Kevin Smith clarified that it might never end. Kevin Smith said, “It will just be ongoing. The first chapter is already 28 pages, and it’s just Dante and Randal meeting in kindergarten.”
