Kingdom Hearts 2.9 was rumored to be on Square Enix’s E3 slate this year, but was removed prior to the event. This employee’s profile says the game is a PlayStation 4 project, most likely a compilation of the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 HD remakes that originally appeared on PlayStation 3.

The profile also says that the developer was working on “multiplayer planning and documentation” for Kingdom Hearts III, meaning that Square Enix is at least attempting to add multiplayer gameplay to the series. This could mean fighting side by side with a friend against the heartless, or perhaps an opportunity to go toe-to-toe in a Keyblade duel. Either way, there’s not telling if the mode will make it into the finished product.

The last bit of interesting information is that the developer was part of meetings for the game that involved both Disney and Pixar. This could perhaps indicate the inclusion of Pixar film properties, such as Toy Story and The Incredibles, as worlds in Kingdom Harts III.

Kingdom Hearts III is still without a release date, but hopefully we’ll hear more about both of these projects at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.
