Lion Forge Comics announced two new titles published under their all-ages imprint, ROAR, at Emerald City Comic-Con today: Crystal Cadets and Mer.In Crystal Cadets, a shy middle-schooler named Zoe is suddenly granted powers of light from a magical crystal, and teams up with a squad of crystal-bearing girls from all over the globe to form the Crystal Cadets! In this new all-ages magical girl series, Zoe and her friends travel the world, battling the evil forces of darkness wherever they arise. The comic is written by Anne Toole with art by Katie O’Neill. Crystal Cadets will be released as an 8-issue digital comic series beginning in Spring/Summer 2014.Mer, Roar’s first young adult title, follows troubled teenager Aryn Sanford, who’s having a tough time between losing her mother and starting over at a new high school. When things turn dangerous and someone tries to drown Aryn, she’s saved by the dreamy new guy at school — who also happens to sprout fins when he’s in water. Saved By the Bell, Wonderous and Punky Brewster scribe Joelle Sellner writes the series, featuring beautiful artwork by Abby Boeh. Mer will be released as a digital original graphic novel in Fall 2014.”These are two new original titles we’re very proud of,” said David Steward II, founder and CEO, Lion Forge. “Who hasn’t wanted to be a part of a super team or wondered what life was like under the sea? We love being given the opportunity to reach a younger audience, and we look forward to sparking the imagination of kids and teens everywhere with Mer and Crystal Cadets.”Lion Forge launched ROAR comics in February with digital comics based on Punky Brewster and Saved by the Bell.Lion Forge also announced that its titles are now available to purchase via Google Play.
