Modiphius Entertainment Unveils Star Trek Adventures RPG And Miniatures Line

Modiphius Entertainment is bringing the Final Frontier to the tabletop with their new roleplaying game Star Trek Adventures.

Modiphius has a great deal of experience in developing RPG’s, with series like Achtung! Cthulhu, Mutant Chronicles, Conan, and Infinity under its belt. Like some of those titles, Star Trek Adventures will also be using the 2d20 game system designed by Jay Little (Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, X-Wing), so the pedigree is there to get the most out of Star Trek’s vast history.

Adventures will encompass many of the franchise’s various shows, including the original series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise, as well as some of the older films. They did specify it will not include the rebooted films, at least at this time. The core rulebook will focus on human and alien Starfleet characters, and there will be a ship combat system as well.

“Since I was a kid I dreamed of sitting in the captain’s chair and boldly going on my own voyages,” says Modiphius Entertainment’s publishing director Chris Birch. “With Star Trek Adventures we can all explore our own stories in the worlds of Captain Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer and many others.”

Players who are attending Gen Con can try the game out for themselves in a playtest for the living campaign. You’ll be assigned a random ship, and that feedback will be implemented into the full release, which will take place in the summer of 2017. While you’re there you can also claim a free Captain Kirk or Captain Picard miniature at the Modiphius booth #2737.

Speaking of miniatures, Modiphius is also launching a new Star Trek line of minis, the first for the series in 17 years. A combination of resin and metal, each will be the standard 32 mm, and will feature iconic characters and crews from the various shows. Tile maps will also be available, featuring Federation ships, colonies, and enemy cruisers for your miniatures to operate on. No dates for these have been announced at this time.
