Morgan Freeman, through his Revelations Entertainment production company, has optioned the film rights to Planetoid, Ken Garing’s science fiction comic book series published by Image Comics, according to Indie Wire.The adaptation has been put into the development stages and this official synopsis was released:

Silas, an ex-soldier turned space pirate, finds himself stranded on a mysterious planet in alien territory. As he explores the long-abandoned industrial ruins of the planet’s surface, he will have to fend off roving cyborg militias and a hostile alien military with a bounty on his head. Ultimately, Silas will have to build a coalition amongst the planetoid’s nomadic tribes to make a final stand against the larger tyrannical forces that rule over them.

No word on whether or not Freeman plans to have an acting role in the film.Planetoid debuted at Image Comics in June 2012 as a 5-issue miniseries. Garing plans to continue the story in future miniseries and one-shot stories.
