That’s because the network has officially renewed Scream for a second season. Scream is a television adaptation of the popular horror film franchise; a project that reportedly took several years to officially get off the ground. Currently in its first season, Scream premiered this June with a strong 1.56 million viewership, and has since generated 7.9 million streams across various platforms.
“It has been a wonderful experience working with Bob Weinstein and his team who are such connoisseurs of this genre and we are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream,” MTV’s EVP of Series Development and Head of Scripted Programming Mina Lefevre said in a statement.
Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films, added, “We promise even more scares, surprises, romance and of course kills in season two.”
A premiere date was not announced, but stayed tuned to ComicBook.com for more updates on Scream Season Two.
