It looks like The X-Files‘ revival season is taking the series where it’s never gone before—beyond the fourth wall.
Well, maybe not, but but it certainly looks that way in this next X-Files set photo featuring Mulder, Scully, Skinner, and…United States President Barack Obama. As Gillian Anderson’s (Scully) humorous Tweet of the photo showed, the Commander in Chief recently watched over The X-Files’ production. However, the photo’s presence on-set does make us wonder if The X-Files will venture outside of its universe and into our own.

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES will be a thrilling, six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. Production on THE X-FILES event series is set to begin in summer 2015.
The new X-Files series premieres Jan. 24, 2016.
