Tyreese may be gone, but his presence is far from forgotten to The Walking Dead‘s cast and crew.
AMC has released a retrospective feature honoring the late Tyreese Gibson and his actor, Chad Coleman. As those who watched last week’s episode of The Walking Dead, or don’t mind major spoilers, know, Tyreese met his tragic end during the Season Five midseason premiere of the zombie apocalypse series.
In the video, Coleman’s castmates recall their favorite memories from working with the actor, while discussing what made Tyreese such a special addition to the show. The video also features an interview with Coleman himself, where he talks about what he enjoyed the most while playing Tyreese and how he executed some of the character’s most pivotal moments on The Walking Dead. For instance, the Season Four episode, “The Grove,” stands out as one of his favorites.
“I totally identify with his gentles sprite, his kindness, and his desire to see no one harmed unnecessarily,” Coleman says in the video.
You can check out the entire video below, which chronicles Tyreese’s full journey through the Walking Dead. It’s filled with tons of interesting anecdotes, including one where executive producer and Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman said that he wouldn’t bring Tyreese onto the show unless Coleman played him.
The Walking Dead airs—now without Tyreese—on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on AMC.
