Last year, the show had its highest-ever attendance — a record that will likely be broken this year since organizers had talked about expanding after last year’s success. The addition of New York Super Week, which begins tomorrow and features both on- and off-site events in support of the convention, has been a boon to mainstream media coverage for the show, which organizers hope will begin to compete with Comic Con International: San Diego in the public mind.
