The Pokemon Company has revealed the first three Pokemon to appear in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.In a video released this morning, Nintendo announced Rowlet, Litten and Popplio, the starter Pokemon for the next Pokemon games, which will be released later this year.

Rowlet is a Grass/Flying type that resembles an owl (complete with a leaf bow tie) that can attack with its talons and leaf-like feathers. Litten is a coolheaded Fire type Pokemon that resembles a tabby kitten and looks as if it could evolve into a Fire/Dark type.The Water type starter Popplio is a playful and acrobatic Pokemon that looks like a sea lion.More information on all three Starters can be found on the Pokemon Sun/Moon website.

In addition to the starters, the unnamed mascot Legendary Pokemon for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon also appeared in the video.Sun’s Legendary appears to be a giant lion, while Moon‘s is a large bat.Check out the gallery for pictures of all the new Pokemon!

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will be set in a new region, the Alola region, which appears to be based on Hawaii.Volcanoes, mountains and coastlines all briefly appeared in the video, as did some small tiki statues.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will be released on November 18th.
