The Power Rangers movie won’t be out until the end of March 2017, but Saban is already betting big on the film. Today, they announced on IGN that a sequel to Power Rangers will hit just five days after the movie’s release – in comic book stores. Power Rangers: Aftershock will be an in-canon graphic novel that follows up on the film’s story.

The movie hits theaters March 24, and the graphic novel, from BOOM! Studios, hits stores March 29. A movie-image cover will sell the book in bookstores, and a comic-illustrated cover will be sold in comic shops. Writer Ryan Parrott and artist Lucas Werneck are handling the book, with Greg Smallwood on the illustrated cover.
So what’s the comic book sequel about? Well, the synopsis isn’t really saying much, to be expected since the movie has been secretive as well. The title, “Aftershock,” implies that there’s a seismic shift (sorry) in the lives of the Rangers after the events of the film, and they need to pick up the pieces a bit.
