Matt Kindt and Clayton Crain’s Rai #1 from Valiant Entertainment has sold out at the distributor level, and a second printing will come next month with Rai #2.Valiant announced today that the issue has sold through its 36,500-copy print run at the distributor level. Copies may still be available at the retail level, and Rai #1 is available digitally via ComiXology. The sold-out launch, which kicks off the Valiant First initiative that will see new #1 issues from the publisher all summer long, marks the biggest new series launch for the publisher since last year’s Unity #1, also by Kindt, which outsold all other single-issue comics from non-premier publishers in 2013.A second printing – with a new cover featuring Crain’s stunning, digitally painted interior art – is now scheduled to arrive in stores June 4th, alongside the series’ next issue. In Rai, the year is 4001 A.D. They say he is a spirit…the ghost of Japan. But when the first murder in a thousand years threatens to topple Father’s benevolent reign, Rai will be forced to confront the true face of a nation transformed, and his own long-lost humanity…
