Ever since the pilot aired, people have been speculating that the Blossom twins might’ve had an incestuous relationship. Cheryl and Jason clearly had a very close bond up until his mysterious death, which obviously isn’t a strange thing for twins to have. But what is strange is that whenever flashbacks are shown of them on the row boat together, they look at each other like lovers do, not like brother and sister.

Cheryl even grieves like she lost a lover, not a brother. Remember, she refers to him as “her soulmate.” And we she speaks of Polly Cooper, Jason’s pregnant girlfriend, Cheryl comes off as jealous. All of that gives off a Cersei and Jaime Lannister-like vibe.

In last edition of EW’s Spoiler Room, a reader asked: “Will Riverdale ever get around to addressing the clear twincest between Cheryl and Jason?”

Yes, actually. Look for episode 10 to address that situation head-on. “That theme, from that point forward, is developed in a very, very real creepy way,” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says. “But maybe not in the way you expect.”

Hmm. Not in the way we expect? What’s that mean? I have a theory. Ever since we saw Cheryl’s mother stroking Archie’s hair and giving his a creepy once-over at Jason’s memorial service, I have suspected she that had an incestuous relationship with her son, not Cheryl.

However it pans out, we’ll know more in two weeks.

ULTERIOR MOTIVES โ€” Archie (KJ Apa) reluctantly agrees to escort Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) to her family’s official start of maple syrup tapping because he gets an offer that could help his future. Archie starts to become skeptical of the real reason the Blossoms are so eager to help him, however he gets some helpful information for Betty (Lili Reinhart) about her sister.

Veronica (Camila Mendes) is trying to be nice, and unbeknownst to her, befriends a classmate that her father’s illegal doings has hurt. Hermione (Marisol Nichols) is conflicted about telling Fred (Luke Perry) the truth. Meanwhile, Alice (Madchen Amick) is ready to get revenge on the Blossoms once and for all with the help of her two daughters.

Cole Sprouse also stars. Lee Rose directed the episode written by James DeWille.
