Executive producer Greg Berlanti already has a copy of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s pilot script for the Archie Comics-driven TV series Riverdale, CW chief Mark Pedowitz revealed today at the Television Critics Association.

The series, which was born at FOX and came to The CW when that network passed on it, has been described as “Archie meets Twin Peaks” and will be darker than previous multimedia takes on Riverdale.
That approach will lend itself to The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror-style Afterlife With Archie episodes, according to previous reports. Aguirre-Sacasa, the chief creative officer at Archie, established himself as one of their best-selling and most critically acclaimed writers in no small part with the Afterlife comics.
