However, the production department may be spreading itself too thin with an ambitious release schedule. Today it was announced that Sony will be pushing back two of its anticipated titles from the originally announced release dates.
Jumanji has been delayed for a Christmas release December 22, 2017 instead of the preset Summer date July 28, 2017, ERC reports.
Hold those dice: Sony’s JUMANJI reboot will be a Christmas release instead of a summer flick opting for 12/22/17 instead of 7/28/17.

The new Jumanji film, starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Heart, and Jack Black, is still filming, but has already started creating some buzz on social media. Such as The Rock announcing on his instagram that it the new flick is “not a reboot”. Giving the film a holiday release seems like a smart push, however, moving the release to December means that it will be competing with the highly anticipated Star Wars Episode VIII, which is set to release December 16, 2017.
As well as the Jumanji date being pushed back, reports from ERC also claim that the untitled The Equalizer sequel has been bumped back a year as well, from its September 29, 2017 release date to September 14, 2018
Denzel Washington’s THE SEQUALIZER has been bumped back a year–9/14/18 is in, 9/29/17 is out.

Now not much is known about “The Sequalizer” but filming is not set to start until 2017, so it is no surprise that it was pushed back a year. What we do know is that Denzel Washington is set to star once again as Robert McCall, the former black ops commando who faked his own death only to rescue a girl from Russian mobsters. We also know that Antione Fuqua, known recently for The Magnificent Seven, has been confirmed to direct him.
Sony has not yet confirmed the delays.
But in the midst of all the delays, there is good news for Stephen King Fans. With Jumanji being pushed out, it seems like July is the perfect time for The Dark Tower to be released. The movie adaptation of the infamous novels will be releasing July 28. Sony has been holding the cards close to the chest with The Dark Tower, as no trailers or posters have been officially released, but that hasn’t stopped rumors and excitement and now a release date July 28, 2017.
