At a capacity panel at New York Comic Con, the publishing division of Lucasfilm was well represented with six authors from across the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” lineup of novels, non-fiction books, and comics. They also brought a few announcements along with them.

Claudia Gray, author of Lost Stars, will be writing another novel, though it won’t be out as part of the “Journey to,” instead coming in spring 2016. The book is titled Star Wars: New Republic: Bloodline, and takes place only six years before the events of The Force Awakens.

Chuck Wendig’s Star Wars: Aftermath started to explore the time after Return of the Jedi, and as announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego, is actually part one of a trilogy. The next two book titles were announced, Aftermath: Life Debt and Aftermath: Empire’s End, though release dates were held back.

The aliens featured in a Vanity Fair spread (scroll about halfway down) for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be getting their own stories. Author Delilah Dawson will write a story featuring Vazine, the woman in black in the center of the image as an e-short story in November. Comic book writer Landry Walker comes in after that in December with a series of shorts featuring some of the others, collectively called “Star Wars: Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away – Aliens.” The titles give some intriguing hints (and some can be picked out of the lineup fairly easily):

High Noon on Jakku

All Creatures Great and Small

The Face of Evil

The Crimson Corsair and the lost treasure of Count Dooku

Each story will be a different genre. “We had a lot of fun taking the Star Wars framework and writing a bunch of stories that are very different from one another,” Walker said.
