Director Shawn Levy is helming a remake of John Carpenter’s ’80s sci-fi movie Starman, THR reports.
Levy’s previous work includes the Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel and the Night At the Museum trilogy.

Arash Amel, who wrote the acclaimed drama Grace of Monaco, is tackling the script for the project. It was originally written by Bruce A. Evans and Raynold Gideon of Stand By Me fame.
The story revolved around a shape-shifting alien, who assumes the form of a woman’s dead husband and forces her to take him across the country to meet up with his mothership. During the course of the trip, they’re pursued by the government, and a relationship forms between the two.
Actor Jeff Bridges was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for the original, in which he appeared alongside Raiders of the Lost Ark‘s Karen Allen.
