With a projected $38 million weekend, Variety says the film will enjoy one of the ten best third weekends of all time, earning more than four times its closest competitor (Keanu).

That’s a huge success for director Jon Favreau, who is best-known for his work on the Iron Man franchise and has recently hinted he may be returning to Disney’s Marvel Studios shingle for something else.

Mother’s Day, also new this week, will come in third, but that movie had little in the way of expectations. Aimed at an older, primarily female audience, the film is more susceptible than most big franchise titles to negative word of mouth and poor reviews — both of which it has in spades. The Huntsman: Winter’s War will likely tumble significantly — Friday box office has it dorpping by more than 60% over last week’s numbers — to take the fourth place spot, followed by Barber Shop: The Next Cut or Ratchet and Clank rounding out the top five, depending on how the weekend shapes up.

Blockbusters Zootopia and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will compete with The Boss and Criminal for the bottom spots of the top ten.
