Hobbs just can’t be stopped.
Somehow, the beast character from Fast & Furious will find himself locked away in a maximum security penitentiary but soon after is busting out of the joint. In a new photo from Fast & Furious 8, Hobbs is ready to take on all of the security this prison can throw at him and make his escape. The biggest question surrounding the scene has to be, “What did Hobbs do to get in there?”

“I’ve been in the mix with Chris Morgan, the writer, really dialing in the Hobbs character, which is one of our all-time favorite characters,” Fast & Furious 8 producer Hiram Garcia tells ComicBook.com. Garcia, Dwayne Johnson and Morgan co-created the Hobbs character so it’s no surprise Garcia and Johnson are looking forward to bringing him to life again. “Hobbs was one of the first characters we merged together on and when Fast approached [Dwayne Johnson], telling him about the character they wanted to create, [Dwayne Johnson] and I were able to sit down and craft this guy that we would just laugh out loud at the lines we would come up with. When you can say you’re gonna put a hurt on someone so bad you’ll make their mama wish they kept their legs closed, stuff like that where we can’t even finish the line before laughing – that’s the fun we love.”
Fast 8 is reported to be the first installment in a trilogy that will end the decade-old franchise, although there has been talk of spinoffs and solo films, which could keep the Fast & Furious brand alive even without the entire cast reuniting for “one last job” every few years. Johnson, in particular, has expressed an interest in doing solo adventures with his character, Hobbs.
Fast & Furious 8 is set for release April 14, 2017.
