In DC’s Earth One Universe, Batman isn’t the only one who has a signal in the sky.
It appears that Superman will be aping The Dark Knight’s style in the upcoming volume of Superman: Earth One. In the Earth One series, DC’s characters are reimagined in new, modernized worlds outside of the main DC Universe. And apparently, no idea is off the table in these out-of-continuity stories.

Such is the case in a new look atย the Superman graphic novel, written by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated Ardian Syaff. In the preview, Lois Lane takes a page out of the Gotham City Police Department’s playbook and contacts Superman with the, er, Super-Signal. And not because it worked so well for Gotham, but because its the best way “to get someone’s attention who spends most of his time in the clouds.” This version of Lois must not know about Superman’s super-hearing, microscopic vision, and catalog of other enhanced abilities. But hey, this works too.
