Not officially confirmed from AMC or even Hardwick, but through a source, they report that at least one of the characters from the as-yet-untitled spinoff series, in production under the name Cobalt, will be appearing in a six-episode arc during the series’ sixth season.
The report itself notes that it’s hard to guess just how this would play out, since not only does the new show take place all the way across the country in Los Angeles, but it reportedly does so more than half a decade in the past, at the start of the outbreak that resulted in zombies overrunning the world.
Showrunners had previously said that characters from the two shows wouldn’t interact, but it’s likely hard to avoid the temptation of a crossover following the massive ratings success that Arrow and The Flash did when they crossed over last December.
The Walking Dead will return to television with new episodes on February 8.
