The Walking Dead heads into its next episode with a whole lot of momentum following last night’s chaotic midseason premiere.

In the previews for The Next World, we see Rick and Daryl are finally reunited and out hunting zombies (or people). The two are first seen driving out of the Alexandria gates and, later, running around chasing tire tracks. The Walking Dead writer and creator Robert Kirkman says that the episode plays like the buddy cop comedy, Lethal Weapon.
“I can say that it’s possibly the most fun episode that we’ve had, just seeing those two guys together,” Kirkman tells EW. “It’s almost like a Lethal Weapon episode. It’s a lot of fun.”
To clear things up, we shouldn’t be expecting and silliness on par with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson out of Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus next week, but there will be a few attempts at humor.
“It’s not a comedy episode, and it’s not some kind of out-of-the-box kind of thing,” Kirkman explains. “It’s definitely an episode of The Walking Dead. There’s some trauma involved and some tragedy, but seeing those two guys together is a lot of fun. It’s a very fun episode.”
Will Rick and Daryl meet Jesus?
